this project was based around a story line (below) that i created for school, inspired originally by pinking shears. this outfit belonged to a character named syzn.
In a scorched, industrial world stripped of joy, creativity, and even the word “fun,” people exist only to labor in endless repetition. For as long as she can remember, Syzn has worked in the cavernous gray sewing rooms of the 38th floor, producing identical garments in rhythm with hundreds of others bred and altered for efficiency. Every body is branded, reshaped, and reinforced for function; every thought dulled by injections and procedures until deviation itself is unimaginable. The world is dust, fabric, and machinery—sharp, bleak, and rigid.
But one day, a small imperfection shifted Syzn’s worktable, halting her perfect rhythm. Searching for a way to steady it, she uncovered something hidden: a scrap of bright green fabric and an antique pair of pinking scissors with jagged, irregular edges. The sight of color, the touch of irregularity—foreign and exhilarating—cracked something open within her. For the first time, Syzn wondered what else might exist beyond uniformity. She began to stitch differently, her garments transforming from regulation forms into subversive designs that cloaked rigid, modified bodies in folds of absurdity and grace. Each stitch became rebellion.
Syzn’s quiet defiance soon rippled outward. She slipped altered garments to those she trusted, reshaping their identities into something the system could not recognize. Machinists forged new tools, loaders sculpted reclaimed materials, and communicators rediscovered language beyond control. What began as a tremor in fabric spread through every sector, an underground network of creators, builders, and dreamers. The factory, once a tomb of repetition, became their arsenal. With every hidden stitch, every reimagined form, they were not only resisting power—they were remembering what it meant to be human.
